The Crowd Go Wild!
Presenting
Room 8, Vardon School, Hamilton
We
have been celebrating culture this term and this competition provides us with a
perfect opportunity to reflect on our sporting culture. Taking
inspiration from crowds and supporters, we literally dressed our class in
Black, although some Argentine supporters somehow made it into the mix!
We’d like to think we epitomise the excitement, passion and energy of All Black
supporters and rugby fans in general. We would love the privilege of
meeting one of our sporting heroes this Friday. Go the All Blacks!

Our Wishing Kites
Li Cunxin, a young boy growing up in a remote village in China, used to fly his kite with his beloved father. Attached to the kite were his three wishes. They were his dreams and hopes for a better future for himself and his family. So Room 8 got busy making Chinese kites and attaching our own goals and wishes for ourselves, our family and the world. We of course had to then test out the kites flying ability on a windy afternoon and set our wishes free.

Rakau Sticks- first practise!
This is our very first practise with Rakau Sticks and we were pretty pleased with our performance. We were all concentrating on keeping the beat, moving our sticks from side to side and tapping our partner's sticks at the right time. We can't wait to have another practise and if we get good enough attempt the throw and twirl!!! Stay tuned.

Cultural Misunderstandings
Room 8 have been discussing how all cultures have different customs and ways of doing things. Sometimes we might accidentally offend someone from another culture by behaving in a way that they believe to be rude or inappropriate, without us meaning to be. We watched a few video clips which highlighted some misunderstandings between people from different countries. Take a look.
