Gingernuts!
Harry and his Mum made gingernuts because we were learning about the food parcels sent to the soldiers in wartime. Mrs Barnard, a New Zealander, made the first gingernuts for her 6 sons who went to war. She made them small so the soldiers could eat them easier and store them in their pockets. They became famous amongst the soldiers. She made about 4 tons of gingernuts! Unfortunately 2 of her sons did not return from war. But she got a metal for her hard gingernut work.
